One of the most important elements in playing commercial music is
the ability to play with FEELING.
A feeling is personal and is the musician's own interpretation of the song.
As musicians know, it’s true emotion that makes great music.
After playing the drums for over 20 years, I've noticed that a lot of
inexperienced drummers have the tendency to over play, which includes an
excessive amount of drum fills and extremely loud playing. This is a common
mistake because by over playing you can throw off the rest of the band, hence
taking away from the song.
The most important thing that I practice, and teach all of my students is
that you must learn to play for the song.
As an experienced drummer and instructor I can help guide you by giving you
the tools you need to learn how to express your playing personally, and learn to
play with true FEELING.
